Commercial Licensing

Callimachus is dual-licensed.

1. Open-source license (default) — AGPL-3.0-or-later

The public source is released under the GNU Affero General Public License v3.0 or later (see LICENSE). You may use, study, modify, and share it for free under those terms. In particular, the AGPL requires that:

  • if you distribute the software or a modified version, you make the complete corresponding source available under the AGPL, and
  • if you run a modified version to provide a network service (e.g. a hosted/SaaS product), you must offer that service's complete source to its users under the AGPL.

This is ideal for personal use, research, and other open-source projects.

2. Commercial license (for closed / proprietary / SaaS use)

If you want to use Callimachus in a way the AGPL does not permit — for example:

  • embedding it in a closed-source or proprietary product,
  • offering it (or a derivative) as a hosted/SaaS product without releasing your source, or
  • any for-profit distribution where AGPL's source-disclosure terms don't work for you,

then you need a separate commercial license, granted directly by the copyright holder. Commercial licenses remove the AGPL copyleft obligations under negotiated terms.
