Questions for immediate colleagues
- What’s the biggest priority for the team right now? OR Why is this role open?
- What’s the biggest challenge for someone stepping into this role?
- What a typical day is like?
- Is the product live in production? If not, what's the schedule for developing it? (Particularly valid for early stage & stealth startups)
- How often are releases done?
- Do you have a favorite part of the job? Least favorite?
- Budget for conferences.
- Learning opportunities.
Questions for Founders/HRs
- List of tools that are absolutely necessary for the job (check for documentation tools, tools that require you to be available online all the time).
- Explain how the process for resolving a team dispute would look like?
- Is there any micro-management?
- Are employees psychologically safe?
- Ask about last employee who left or got laid-off, what was the reason?
- How often feedback is given to you and collected from you?
- KPIs for employees OR How managers/senior folks help coach employees through a weakness.
- How does the org. structure look like?
- What types of skills is the team missing that you’re looking to fill with a new hire?
