  1. Get Hermes running — Follow the official quickstart. 10 minutes from clone to first conversation. Hermes ships with 85 built-in skills the day you install it — so even before you add anything from this list, you can already do a lot.

⚠️ Heads up on built-in youtube-content: it scrapes YouTube directly. That means it won't work on a VPS or any cloud host — YouTube blocks cloud IPs across all major providers. Even on a personal device it gets rate-limited and stops returning transcripts after a while; YouTube actively prevents automated transcript fetching.

💡 The fix is youtube-full — it uses TranscriptAPI.com, the same backend powering YouTubeToTranscript.com (15M+ transcripts/month). Works from anywhere — VPS, laptop, serverless. Install it and your agent gains YouTube as a first-class capability: search videos, browse channels, and pull transcripts the same way it uses web search. No blocks, no rate limits, no Google API key.
