Our framework publications

The original content of First Principles Framework (FPF) and the DPF publications by Anatoly Levenchuk, including the Engineering DPF Suite and Narrativization and Narrative Studies Principles Framework, is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International license (CC BY 4.0).

This grant covers the FPF specification, our DPF publications, the Suite README and Reference, and their maintained textual sources, including pattern bodies, prefaces, explanations and original worked examples. It also covers our later revisions of these publications when they carry the same license notice. The complete, unmodified license is in LICENSE.

You may copy, redistribute, translate and adapt this material, including commercially. When sharing under this license, give appropriate credit, link to the license and indicate changes; retain supplied attribution and notices as required by the license. Where your use needs no copyright permission, including under an applicable exception, the license conditions do not apply. Attribution must not imply the author's endorsement. The legal code defines the complete terms.

For a precise citation, we recommend naming the actual framework or pattern, its stated date and a brief description of modifications. These details are citation recommendations; the license defines the required attribution and indication of changes.

Your own DPF or LPF

Authors choose the license for their own original DPFs and LPFs, including a different open license or a proprietary license. Applying FPF concepts or methods, referring to its PatternIDs, or following its publication form does not require licensing the resulting work under CC BY 4.0. Copyright licenses govern protected expression, not the underlying ideas or methods.

When you share copied or adapted expression under CC BY 4.0, comply with its terms for that material. Applicable copyright exceptions remain available. You may choose terms for your own contributions to an adaptation, provided those terms do not prevent recipients from complying with CC BY 4.0 for the reused material. Identify the reused material and its license separately when the surrounding publication has different terms. CC BY 4.0 has no ShareAlike requirement.

Other material in the repository

Third-party quotations, illustrations and other material remain subject to their rights holders' terms or applicable copyright exceptions. Follow their source credits and any item-specific notices; this grant covers only rights held by Anatoly Levenchuk. A bibliographic reference does not relicense the cited work.

Repository tooling (software, scripts and configuration files), imported source literature and other independently authored products are outside this grant unless explicitly marked otherwise. Consult their own notices. This publication release does not select a software license or impose a license on independently authored LPFs.
