Learning Mode helps new users practice proper finger placement by color-coding keys according to which finger should be used to press them. When enabled, keys are colored based on standard touch typing technique, providing a visual guide that makes it easier to develop proper typing habits.

How to Enable Learning Mode

  1. Open OverKeys
  2. Right-click the OverKeys icon in the system tray
  3. Select Preferences
  4. Go to the Learn tab
  5. Toggle the Enable Learning Mode option

Implementation Notes

  • Learning Mode takes precedence over custom color settings
  • Thumb keys (bottom row) use the "Key(not pressed)" color setting from the Colors tab
  • You can toggle Learning Mode on/off without affecting your saved color preferences
  • When disabled, OverKeys will return to using your custom color settings
