Homebrew cask (custom tap in this repo)

Decision: Dinky is distributed via a cask in this application repository, not a separate homebrew-* tap repo. Users add it once with a custom remote:

brew tap heyderekj/dinky https://github.com/heyderekj/dinky
brew install --cask dinky

Rationale: One repo, one source of truth; release.sh updates dinky.rb (version and sha256 from the release zip) on every publish. No sync step with a second Homebrew repository.

After upgrades: Homebrew keeps previous cask payloads under Caskroom until cleanup. That can make Finder’s Open With menu show two Dinkys (two versions). Run brew cleanup dinky or brew cleanup to drop old installs.

Optional later: A maintainer or community member can also open a pull request to homebrew-cask so brew install --cask dinky works without a tap, subject to Homebrew’s notability and audit rules. This file does not block that; the cask format is the same.

dinky CLI (SwiftPM, from source)

The GUI app cask is not the same as the dinky terminal binary. The CLI lives in the DinkyCoreImage package:

cd DinkyCoreImage && swift build -c release
# .build/release/dinky

Install WebP/AVIF/oxipng via Homebrew (or set DINKY_BIN to the app’s Contents/Resources tools). There is no separate Homebrew formula in this tap yet; see ../docs/local-cli.md.
