[4.0.1] — 2026-05-11 — Security audit cleanup (0 vulnerabilities)
Same-day patch. npm install context-forge@4.0.0 && npm audit reported 15 vulnerabilities (1 critical, 6 high, 4 moderate, 4 low). All 15 are now resolved.
Changed
@anthropic-ai/claude-codemoved fromdependenciestopeerDependencies(optional). This single change resolves 11 high-severity CLI-surface CVEs (sed/find command injection, symlink path-restriction bypass, settings.json sandbox escape, ZSH clobber file writes, Windows privilege escalation, and others — GHSA-7mv8-j34q-vp7q et al). The CVEs are CLI-surface issues that don't actually exercise via context-forge's library use, butnpm auditflags any installed copy. Users who want AI features install the package themselves (most already have it — it's Claude Code).src/services/aiIntelligenceService.tsnow lazy-loads@anthropic-ai/claude-codeviarequire()with a runtime guard. If the dep is missing OR itsquery()programmatic export was removed (claude-code 2.x is CLI-only), AI features degrade gracefully to existinggetFallback*deterministic templates — the operator sees a warning, butcontext-forge initcontinues without crashing.npm audit fixnon-breaking pass cleaned the remaining 4 vulnerabilities (handlebars critical → patched, glob/minimatch/picomatch/brace-expansion/flatted/ajv/uuid/@isaacs/brace-expansion/@eslint/plugin-kit all bumped to safe versions).
Result
npm audit→ 0 vulnerabilities (both full and--omit=dev).- AI features work as before for users who have
@anthropic-ai/claude-code1.x installed. - AI features degrade gracefully to deterministic templates for users without it (the typical context-forge non-AI workflow is unchanged).
Upgrade
npm install -g context-forge@4.0.1
If you use --ai-prp, install the optional peer dep:
npm install -g @anthropic-ai/claude-code@^1.0.128
[4.0.0] — 2026-05-11 — Claude-current refresh
The first major refresh in nine months. Context-forge now generates everything a modern (May 2026) Claude Code project expects — settings.json with the full hook lifecycle, sub-agents, skills, and slash commands as real .md files with frontmatter. The wizard that drives init is now a full-screen Ink TUI.
Added
.claude/settings.jsongenerator (src/generators/claudeSettings.ts) — emits a single canonical settings.json wiringhooks(8 lifecycle events),mcpServers(filesystem default),statusLine,outputStyles, andpermissions.allow/permissions.deny. The schema URL points athttps://json.schemastore.org/claude-code-settings.json.- Sub-agents generator (
src/generators/agents.ts) — emits.claude/agents/<name>.mdfiles with frontmatter (name,description,tools,model). Ships 5 defaults:code-reviewer,test-runner,plan-architect,security-auditor,prp-executor. Templates attemplates/claude/agents/. - Skills generator (
src/generators/skills.ts) — emits.claude/skills/<name>/SKILL.mdwith project-specific Handlebars-rendered procedures. Ships 3 defaults:testing-protocol,deployment-checklist,codebase-navigation. Auto-derives test framework / language / deploy target from tech stack. - Slash commands now ship as real
.mdfiles (src/generators/slashCommands.tsrewritten, 1,223 lines) — 21 commands across 6 subdirs (PRPs/,orchestration/,checkpoints/,quality/,session/,migration/), each with frontmatter (allowed-tools,argument-hint,description,model). LegacyrenderCommandsForClaudeMd(config)retained for CLAUDE.md embedding; legacygenerateSlashCommandFilesretained as a passthrough shim. - Full hook lifecycle:
src/generators/hooks.ts,enhancementHooks.ts,migrationHooks.tsnow emit settings.json hook fragments alongside hook scripts. All 8 lifecycle events covered (PreToolUse,PostToolUse,SessionStart,UserPromptSubmit,PreCompact,Stop,SubagentStop,Notification). 14 bash scripts + 4 Python (Python retained only where stdin-JSON / markdown scanning truly warrants it). - Ink TUI wizard (
src/cli/tui/) —context-forge initnow runs as a full-screen React-for-CLIs wizard with 10 screens (Welcome → ProjectName → Description → TechStack → Features → IdeTargets → PrpOptions → Confirm → Generating → Done). ESC = back, Enter = advance, Ctrl-C = clean exit. Falls back to the legacy inquirer flow when stdin is not a TTY or--no-tuiis passed. GeneratedFile.modefield on the adapter interface (src/adapters/base.ts) so hook generators can requestchmod 0o755. The writer insrc/generators/index.tshonors it afterfs.writeFile.ProjectConfiggains 10 optional fields for the modern Claude Code surface:preferredModel, testCommand, deployTarget, mcpServers, statusLine, outputStyles, permissionsAllow, permissionsDeny, customAgents, customSkills. Newextras.{claudeSettings, agents, skills}flags default-on.- Repo dogfooding refreshed —
/Users/sem/code/context-forge/.claude/settings.jsonexists with the canonical shape;.claude/commands/{prime-context,project-status,session-save,session-restore}.mdhave frontmatter;.claude/hooks/ships modern bash hooks (pre-compact.sh,session-start.sh,stop.sh,lint-on-edit.sh) with the oldPreCompact.pyleft as a shim for downstream callers.
Changed
@anthropic-ai/claude-codepinned to^1.0.128(was^1.0.51). The 2.x line is intentionally CLI-only — Anthropic removed the programmaticquery()export. Sticking with the last 1.x preservesAIIntelligenceServicewhile we plan the v4.1.0 migration to direct@anthropic-ai/sdkcalls.- Models everywhere are 2026-current:
keyManager.tsvalidation usesclaude-haiku-4-5-20251001,apiKeyManager.tsdefault isclaude-sonnet-4-6, settings.json + agent templates default toclaude-opus-4-7. Zero references toclaude-3-*IDs remain insrc/. - Description and keywords rewritten to surface the modern Claude Code surface.
Unchanged in v4.0.0 (preserved from v3.x)
- The
orchestrateanddashboardCLI commands ship as-is. They predate this refresh and weren't part of the wave-1 worker scope. They're documented in the README and continue to work; they'll get the same modernization treatment (Ink TUIs, modern-surface integration) in v4.1.0. - The
enhanceandmigrateflows likewise use the inquirer prompt path. Their generators were touched (enhancementHooks.ts,migrationHooks.tsmigrated to settings.json fragments), but their CLI surface is unchanged.
v4.1.0 backlog (intentional)
- W11 — Direct SDK paths for AI features. Migrate
AIIntelligenceService.generateFeaturePRPandgenerateSmartDefaultsfrom theclaude-codequery()wrapper to direct@anthropic-ai/sdkmessages.createcalls. Unblocks prompt caching (5-min TTL on large system prompts) and extended thinking (thinking: { type: "enabled", budget_tokens: 4000 }) for planning paths. - TUI for
analyze/enhance/migrate. Currently onlyinithas the Ink TUI; the other commands still use inquirer. @anthropic-ai/claude-code2.x migration. Depends on W11.- Plugins.
.claude/plugins.jsonscaffolding for the marketplace.
[3.3.0] — 2026-05-11 — SDK + model refresh
Drop-in patch that lands the same SDK + model surface that v4.0.0 carries. Released ahead of the v4.0.0 cut for users who want the SDK/model bump without the new generators.
Changed
@anthropic-ai/sdk^0.56.0→^0.94.0.@anthropic-ai/claude-code^1.0.51→^1.0.128.- Model IDs everywhere:
src/services/keyManager.ts:196— validation model nowclaude-haiku-4-5-20251001(wasclaude-3-haiku-20240307).src/services/apiKeyManager.ts:138— anthropic default nowclaude-sonnet-4-6(wasclaude-3-5-sonnet-20241022).- User-facing inquirer choice label updated
"Claude-3.5-Sonnet"→"Sonnet 4.6".
Notes
- Prompt caching + extended thinking were considered for this release but deferred to v4.1.0 (W11). Context-forge calls Anthropic through the
@anthropic-ai/claude-codequery()wrapper, which doesn't currently surface those flags. Proper enablement requires switching the AI-features paths to direct@anthropic-ai/sdkcalls.
